Hi Sherie and Christina,

I would like to suggest the beginner's puppy class in Sierra Vista taught by
a club member, Patrice Graber. It helps the dog to recognize the handler as
the one in control, especially if you don't know where to start. It also
starts them off with some basic obedience that will help you and your dog
work as a team. You could also get together at the train in Palominas to
work on some of those skills. I would like to also suggest some books for
the new handler.

We're in the same boat as you, Christina.  We have a 4 month old German
Shepherd and there doesn't seem to be a beginner's anything out there (for
us as well as her) when it comes to the AKC stuff.  We watched one
conformance training class and, while most of the people were very nice,
they were (rightfully) focused on their animals and their training goals.
Does the club have some sort of beginner's class, do you have a breed
mentoring program, or even if you could just recommend a trainer to help get
us started it would help a lot.  Thanks.

Exactly!!!!  I still ned to figure out which ones to prepair her for..
She's only 4 months old...  So I guess we should start with simple and move
our way up...  She's very attentive for a husky, but we definately both need
to be trained on what the judges will be testing her on...  It's a Big
difference from the Cat showing world.LOL....
